Vermont Marble Thousands of years ago, a warm shallow sea covered what is now Vermont. All the little sea creatures died and decomposed deep into the earth which over time, turned into a sediment called calcium carbonate. Layers and layers later, and after a good polishing, Vermont has been graced with this beautiful gift from the sea creatures which in turn is used to make Vermont Marble gifts and other functional items. There are three kinds of marble quarried in Vermont;
Champlain Black, Danby White and Vermont Antique Verde (green with white
veining). Johnson Marble made our Oil and Bread Board and offer it in
Champlain Black, which by the way, was chosen as part of the decor
on the inside of Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Always a hit at parties, mix your favorite herbs
with olive oil and dip your favorite bread. Click on the image for a larger version. |
